Paid for the character creator subscription today, realized how terrible and limited it was the same day unless you are willing to shill out more cash, i reached out to support they sent me links to tutorials ive already watched, i figured i should be able to get a refund since its the first day but the customer service agent directed me to the terms of service stating that subscriptions are non refundable, why not make an exception given that i have not used your service and its the first day. I blame myself for not doing the free trial first and i shouldve read the reviews on trust pilot. The reviews on trust pilot are telling the truth. This will probably get deleted so ill be sure to share this on reddit as well other people need to be warned.
Hi…
If you were not 100% sure about Character Creator why did you jump in to a subscription without downloading the trial version first? This seems a strange decision, especially as you seem to have then made your mind up in just one day that you don’t like CC5. ![]()
Unfortunately as already explained to you by Support, there are no refunds for subscriptions, but you can cancel at any time so you will only pay for the one month. This will also allow you the rest of the month to try out CC5 which may end up changing your mind (Because frankly 1 day is not enough time to fully evaluate feature packed software like CC5).
Your tutorials, and many others you’ve published, fail to mention that in order to achieve what is shown in the videos, you actually need to purchase a separate asset or plugin (which can be quite expensive). I just wish there were more transparency around this, but honestly I believe it’s done deliberately.
I jumped straight into the subscription because the project I’m working on would quickly exceed the limits of the trial version, and I didn’t want to interrupt that flow. I’m also working on a project where my users would need to alter their characters’ appearance at runtime, but apparently that requires a completely separate licensing arrangement.
If I had known that the base Character Creator would essentially function as a glorified base-mesh generator, I wouldn’t have opted in. The pricing and business model feel misleading ( I would use another word but apparently that word isnt “allowed” in your forum, i wonder why, the word is Pr3datory)
, and I believe that’s by design.
Yeah, that requires an enterprise licence, but that is a fair requirement in my opinion.
Do you have just the base program subscription or the pro subscription?
The problem for newcomers like you is, that over the years a lot of additional stuff was released, which long-time users could acquire piece-by-piece and therefore could stretch the costs. But usually there are now bundles available which are cheaper than getting expansions individually, especially if you wait until summer sale or Black Friday.
