As we have lost support for Windows 10, I must soon upgrade to Windows 11. Will this mean re-installing Iclone and other associated RL software? Is there a recommended process or sequence?
I just did it yesterday for my laptop. It is recommended that you first update Windows 10 to the latest version.
If you are eligible for WIndows 11 (your computer supports is) there should be an option to install it (I had that with my laptop). Launch that and the upgrade will be downloaded and installed. After that everything worked without an issue.
As a precaution you could create an image of your Windows 10 installation. I didn’t do that and just went for it.
There is also an option to get extended support for a year for Windows 10, so I have done that for my computers that couldn’t be upgraded.
Animagic thank you so much. I do have a Windows 11 upgrade option available on my computer, and your suggestions are helpful.
When you upgraded, did you then have to re-install Iclone to a Windows 11 version? That’s the part I am most uncertain about, specifically questions like if the old Windows 10 version should be uninstalled first, so it doesn’t show up on my computer to make another installation ineligible. Is that an issue?
And also wondering if there is a specific sequence for re-installing other RL software like CC4 and various software add-ons under Windows 11. I dread that process, and tracking down all the old activation codes and numbers.
There are no specific iClone or CC versions for WIndows 10 or 11, so you don’t have to reinstall. There were some issues with slow loading of projects but they have been resolved in the latest versions.
Ah, that is exactly the answer I was hoping to hear. Thanks for you kind reply!
Spoiler alert! Windows 11 is absolute trash! In typical Microsoft fashion consumers are forced to upgrade to a buggy software in lieu of one that already worked perfectly. It’s Windows Vista all over again, and don’t get me started on the sh!tshow that is to follow if you use any musician software. That being said, as far as Reallusion performance goes, if you take the the time and remove/uninstall all the insanely unnecessary bloatware and invasive AI garbage from Windows 11 that they are trying to force down your gullet, it will operate with far fewer issues.
I have had very few issues with Windows 11.
That is an understatement, my friend.
Anyway, that is way beyond the orginal topic. I just provided instructions to the OP. I remember the same rants when Windows 10 came out because Windows 7 was so great.
