iClone 8.52 Arrived - Feature Highlights

Welcome

iClone 8.52 delivers a highly anticipated update for professional animation editing, packed with groundbreaking features driven by user feedback. Despite its numerical step from 8.51, this release introduces transformative tools to elevate animation workflows.

Key New Features:

  • AccuPOSE Technology: AI-assisted natural posing for minimal-effort realism.
  • Motion Trail Editor: Managing motion paths and animation timing.
  • Non-Destructive Editing: Recoverable break, preserves all layer keys for further edit
  • Curve Performance Enhancement: Achieve smoother, more efficient editing.
  • Curve Filters and Preview Mode: Simplify and refine motion cleanup with precise adjustments.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Martin Mejzlik and Milan Dolezal, acclaimed contributors to the Mafia game series, who advocated for enhancements like non-destructive editing, improved curve performance, and motion trails. Their insights, rooted in extensive industry experience, have been pivotal in shaping this release.

Additionally, renowned 3D expert and YouTuber AskNK emphasized the importance of integrating advanced curve filters, inspired by MotionBuilder, to facilitate high-quality motion capture (mocap) data cleanup. iClone 8.52 now empowers animators with these professional-grade tools.

Please offer a perpetual, non-subscription option for AccuPOSE.

Subscriptions should either be optional or offer a rent-to-own model.

It looks like there is a two tier system where you can get the free basic accupose features
with the more “advanced” system behind an annual rent wall.

Daz Recently implemented a two tier system where some newer program features and content are now behind a $19 monthly rent wall.

Yeah, which leads to the same problem of all other subscriptions:

  • you pay while you don’t need it because you need to subscribe for a full year (how about a day or week long subscription instead? Nobody does this because the goal isn’t customer friendliness but regular payments)
  • if you cannot pay you lose everything
  • subscription prices will rise after a while
  • developers get lazy after a while and only release bare minimum new content
  • content can be removed without the possibility of a local backup because the end user has no control over it

Which is exactly why the AI Art generation systems are so popular and once they nail down animation to the point of being truly useful(soon) they will gain even more users.

Perfect example, I found an AI art generator that had a style I really liked for a graphic novel I wanted to create.
But the art style was locked behind a paywall.

BUT they made it clear that I could instantly cancel at any time.
So I Paid the $15 dollars for one months access and Focused three intense weeks of hoarding more than enough images for the 92 page graphic novel as well as alot of cool backgrounds for my cartoon animator scenes.

I canceled the $15 dollar “subscription” ,on Day 28, and published my Book on Amazon

Agree. I hope that this is not the beginning of a new trend where content becomes subscription only. That would indeed be very bad.

Great update :+1:, except for the subscription, I don’t like it.

I think iClone could benefit significantly from adding physics-based secondary motions. For example, if I set two keyframes, one with an arm raised overhead and another with the arm resting at the character’s side, it would be incredible if physics could enhance the transition, creating a natural sway that mimics real human movement. With AccuPOSE already in place, incorporating this feature would be a fantastic next step! :stuck_out_tongue:

Will never follow a subscription model. Willing to pay a perpetual licences instead.

Bought accupose yesterday, For me accupose dosent work offline, think that should been stated clearly, I find iclone great to animate on laptop offline beetween work, and sitting outside. If this is right its a big step backwards, I probably missed something how to use AccuPose offline.

After much nagging, cascadeur has added Rag Doll Character physics.

This thread may offer some insights

These features make working with animation software incredibly enjoyable. It reminds me a bit of Endorphin, a program I used extensively back in the day. I would love to see a secondary motion option added to iClone with AccuPOSE and I have noticed that their models bring poses much closer to what I am aiming for compared to Cascadeur, which is a clever and well-executed feature on Reallusion’s part.:pray:

I still have full versions of Endorphin installed on two of my PC’s

Also there is free ,python based ,open source ragdoll engine for the old poser software that I still use sometimes as well
( used to be commercial product but now free& open source)

Im subscribed to INFINITY and paid for accupose 1 year. I cant acces accupose offline, I usally dont have the option to go online then go offline to acces accupose beetween workplace and home and work outside in the nature.

I have been out of the loop for awhile. I remember reading in one of the official threds about earlier 8.5 versions of Iclone having multiple kinds of crash issues and not working well with Omniverse. Has the 8.52 version fixed these issues pretty well?
