HDRI Questions

Long ago I purchased HDRi Fundamentals 25. iClone 8.73 installed them to
\Reallusion Templates\Texture\IBL\HDRI\Panocapture HDRi Samplers\Interiors\Attic_StoreRoom_4k.hdr
and
\Reallusion Templates\Stage\Atmosphere\Panocapture HDRi Samplers\Interiors\Attic_StoreRoom.iatm

If I look in windows explorer, I have several hdr files stored in a different directory that iClone doesn’t see. iClone doesn’t see Media\Texture at all
\Reallusion Templates\Media\Texture\HDRI\Birchwood.hdr

If I drag and drop or double click to get one of the Panocapture hdrs into my scene, it is a distorted flat image instead of creating a room that surrounds the scene.
If I drag and drop or double click on an iatm file, it surrounds me with a room.

Neither the iatm or hdr files show in the scene tab.
I can see and delete iatm from the Visual tab, but if they are deleted my scene becomes white instead of the usual dark color. Also, characters in my scene are not visible - I just see white.

If I drag and drop an hdr from
Reallusion Templates\Media\Texture\HDRI\Office Window.hdr"
it displays as a room that I can look around in. It does not show in the scene tab or the visual tab.

So I am confused as to how these files work and why I have a folder full of hdrs that iClone can’t see.
The iClone 8 manual HDR section tells how to change the lighting effects.
For atmosphere, the manual just says that there are new templates.

Where can I find out more about how hdr, hdri, and iatm work? Do I need to convert my hdr to iatm? How would I do that?

Thanks!

Directly usable content from that pack is in Atmosphere > Panocapture HDRi Samplers:

Those are .iatm which usually override current set of lights, visual settings and IBL.
.hdr files (which part of the .iatm) are set into IBL channel.

If you would like to use .hdr files individually (without changing current lights and other settings), you have to drag and drop them from Windows Explorer directly into IBL channel. Or click Load from IBL section and pick any .hdr file from there:

When .hdr is loaded into IBL, it also loaded into the Sky texture. That is why you see it in the scene directly. You may enable, disable the sky from IBL and also sync sky orientation with the light from IBL.

Finally if you drag the .hdr to the viewport, it would set as a Sky, but not as IBL.
