Character Creator New Install - Crashing on Creating a Character

I am trying to create a character using a photo, I use the most basic settings, no hair, simple image, no face shape etc., just “normal”, and it keeps crashing on Saving Stream, 50% progress complete. I have an Nvidia RTX 3060,

Image size is 512 x 512, and I have already completed all the following:

  • [image]Change Progressive Texture Loading:
    • [image]Open Character Creator and go to Edit > Preferences (or press Ctrl + P).
    • [image]Navigate to the Performance or Texture tab.
    • [image]Locate Progressive Texture Loading and change the setting to Load when all models loaded (or disable background texture streaming). This prevents CC from overwhelming your VRAM while streaming textures on the fly.
  • [image]Update / Roll Back GPU Drivers:
    • [image]Clean-install the latest Studio Drivers (for NVIDIA users) rather than Game Ready Drivers, as they offer better stability for 3D/real-time viewport applications.

Clear Smart Gallery & Cache Files:

  • [image]Delete temporary files located at C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Reallusion.

  • [image]Open the Reallusion Hub and run a Repair or Sync on Character Creator to ensure core content library paths aren’t corrupted.

  • [image]Adjust Virtual Memory (Pagefile):

  • [image]If your system runs low on RAM during heavy asset streams, increase your Windows virtual memory/paging file size to at least 16–32 GB on an SSD.

  • [image]Switch Viewport Render Mode:

    • [image]Before loading a heavy avatar or streaming file, set the viewport shade mode to Wireframe or Smooth Shade (F2 / F3) instead of PBR/High Quality, then switch back to PBR once loaded.

Step 1: Switch to Nvidia Studio Drivers

If you are using Nvidia Game Ready Drivers, switch to Studio Drivers.

Step 2: Configure Nvidia Control Panel Settings

Misconfigured power management or GPU switching can cause instant crashes on launch or asset load.
Step 3: Increase Windows TDR Timeout (Fixes Rendering Crashes)

  • [image]Reduce Texture Resolution Before Generating: High-resolution source photos cause VRAM spikes during mesh fitting. In Preferences (Ctrl + P), temporarily drop your Max Texture Size to 1024x1024 or 2048x2048. You can increase it back after creation.
  • [image]Clear Content & Plugin Cache: Delete existing temporary files located in C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Reallusion to ensure corrupted cache files aren’t interrupting data conversion.

Hi eu4icmusic,

Could you please send us a screen recording of your workflow, along with the relevant project files? Also, which driver version were you using before the update?

You may send the files to winnerhung@reallusion.com or share a cloud storage link with us.

Thanks!
