Character Creator 4.52 Official Issues Thread

Hi Scalle

If it has been some time since you installed Character Creator, then it may be wise to consider uninstalling CC4 and performing a clean install of the latest full version using the Hub. This will eliminate an issue with your installation files that may be contributing to the crashing.

However, if the crashing continues after a clean install, then please contact Technical Support who will be able to advise you further.

Thanks.

Hi Pete,
I will consider it, thank you for your help.
As an update, there is no crash, if I export from CC (send to iclone) and back from iclone (Edit in Character Creator). In this case the Skingen process is OK.

Good day,

When buying assets off the marketplace, if it is listed as “Actor” is this basically an ActorCore product therefore, you cannot “dress” the Actor?

To follow up, a Character, yu are able to dress up ?

Just want to be sure before I start making purchases.

Thanks !

Hi araffa040872

The term Actor does not mean ActorCore. Actor is the category used for all characters. So on the product page, just look in the Content Specs section and if it states CC3 or CC3+ then it is a character you can dress in CC4.

I hope this helps.

… and another one

Is there any news on this patch? I can’t even run CC4 now without it constantly crashing. This is starting to pang my pocketbook in a major way. I even have assets for the marketplace I can’t work on, due to the constant crashing. I have a 139k Intel, a 4090GTX with 24 GB, 128 GB of system memory and my Reallusion content is on it’s own dedicated SSD drive, so the hardware isn’t the problem. The culprit is this: ucrtbase.dll, which I find ironic, as I don’t have problems with any games or applications which require ucrtbase.

Have you been in touch with Technical Support about the crashing issues? If you haven’t yet, then I would strongly advise contacting them to see if they can help. Do try to provide your dxdiag.txt file when contacting them as this will speed up the diagnosis.

Not yet. I’m testing my CPU right now to see if I got one of the buggy ones, but so far it’s pointing directly to the ucrtbase.dll - it’s always the culprit. It doesn’t always bang the hardware, but when it does, it’s a hard crash to the desktop that just shuts the application down. Don’t have any problems with CC3 (which I still have installed), but I upgraded to 4 last year, during one of your flash sales and migrated most of my primary characters to CC4, so I can’t move back to CC3 just to keep production going. The crazy part is it will even crash when loading a default project, with the neutral CC3+ character and 2k textures banging the same library. My machine is a beast and water cooled - it was built specifically to use as a render box for UE, using CC characters, but this didn’t start happening until 4.52. I’ll run OCCT for an hour to see if I got one of the buggy intel chips and if all goes well, I’ll fill out a ticket.

Thanks, Peter. o7

In case anyone is interested, there appears to be issues with the iRay plugin in CC4 (at least that’s in my case). It’s been the issue giving me CTDs after banging the ucrtbase.dll. I guess we need to use the default or omniverse renderer. If you remove the iRay render tab and don’t use the renderer at all, it will load projects and avatars just fine.

@Room101Studios - Unfortunately there are known issues with the Iray Plug-in at present. The dev team hope to have a fix for these issues soon. We do apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
