Auto Setup for Unreal v2.03 is Now Released — UE 5.8 Support, Eyelash, Tearline & MetaHuman Fixes

@Winner_RL ,

I should’ve been exact in my steps:

  • The character I sent you already existed in my UE 5.6.1 project under AS 2.02.
  • After I upgraded to 2.03 is when, in a subsequent play through, I noticed the character’s hair had turned grey/texture-less
  • I immediately regressed to AS 2.02 which resolved the issue.

Hi @Freshness34,

Could you screen-record your workflow for us to investigate further? We tried using 2.02 and replacing it with 2.03, your character’s hair didn’t turn grey

Did you by accidentally move or delete anything inside the CC_Shaders?

Could you also screenshot the Hair materials in the Skeletal Mesh as a reference image below

Thank you

@Winner_RL ,

After upgrading to AS 2.02->2.03, I immediately started a playthrough and the textures for the characters were still grey/texture-less (the characters were already animated via an animation blueprint containing animation sequences.) When I then opened the SKM file for each character, the textures were properly assigned and were no longer grey. I went through each pre-existing (<= AS 2.02) character and opened their SKM files where I noticed the textures were properly assigned.

Ultimately, when I closed and re-opened UE, the issue went away. Each character had already been assigned animation blueprints and the animation sequences within I believe were pointing to cached versions of SKM/preview mesh. I also noticed that, within each animation sequence, in the Asset Details window, the source file was pointing to an .fbx file in the windows temp folder. I cleared those values also, then closed and restarted UE and the issue was resolved.
If the developer has existing characters already assigned with animation blueprints/sequences, UE caches the source file and, even after updating Auto Setup properly, the animations will still point to an earlier version of the SKM.

Rather long-winded, but that’s what I believe was going on in my case.

Hi @Freshness34,

Awesome! We’re glad the issue has finally been resolved. Thank you for letting us know!

Regards,

I installed 2.03, and the role of iclone7.75 was transmitted to ue5.8, prompting me that I didn’t install the plug-in or didn’t open ue5.8. When ue5.8 was transmitted to ICONE, the prompt was that the version was low or ICONE was not opened.

Hi 1013822924,

Would you be able to update to iClone 8?

Regards

Sorry, it’s 8.75, which was wrong.

Hi 1013822924,

Were you able to install the UE Live Link from Reallusion Hub? For us to further investigate your issue, could you screen record your workflow and send us your work file to winnerhung@reallusion.com or a drive link?

Thanks

I installed UE Live Link from Reality Hub.

I hope it can be handled as soon as possible. I’m still waiting to make the project.

Hi 1013822924,

Unfortunately, we were unable to access or download your files from Baidu Netdisk. Could you please upload them to Google Drive and share the link with us, or email them to winnerhung@reallusion.com?

Thank you.

It would be great if you make a Substrate version too :]
