Adding logo to clothes

Hi,

I’m struggling to add a logo or text to clothes in CC4. I’ve tried using the appearance editor but can’t see where to add it (I could do this in CC3). Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig

Not sure if that is a bug, but it looks like if an asset has new Material Modifier substance applied (there is a substance icon appears over the asset thumb in Content), you cannot switch to 3/5/7 material substance in Appearance Editor (it keeps defaulting to the original).
And Material Modifier does not have those bells and whistles like FX and Decals properties.

The only way I found for stripping Material Modifier, is to export character with Blender pipeline and import right back. Then cloth items would no longer have that substance and you may apply 3MAT substance and start inserting decals.

Thanks 4u2ges!! Much appreciated!

I don’t have Blender and it used to be a very simply process. I will email Reallusion to see if there is a bug or if I am missing something.

Thanks

Hi Craig

Probably the easiest way to add a logo to clothing is to use Photoshop or any image editor that supports layers.

So for say a t-shirt, just select the base color texture under the Materials tab of the Modify Panel and launch it to your image editor. Then just position the logo as a new layer on the t-shirt and save (not save as). You will then see the logo appear on the t-shirt in CC4.

I sure hope the character Creator 5 will include better compatibility for adding decals to clothing. It seems to be a highly requested feature that used to be there in CC3.

Or perhaps a send clothing to substance rather than whole character would benefit a lot of people, myself included. Countless hours spent back and forth between image editors to make sure that it sits just right on the clothing.
